...Dr. Herbert von Bose, art historian and curator of the jubilee exhibition, was in raptures at the opening as he introduced the work of Ariane von Gottberg. The artist and art therapist was displaying a selection of pictures from her workshop in Ehrstadt and a number of new paintings are on view. The humour in the pictures and von Gottberg’s own unique world of imagery draws the viewer in to discover ever more new details and linger with amusement. With a language of her own as regards form and a boundless fount of ideas she manages to convey almost like a story-teller, she encourages viewers to lose themselves in her fantastic landscapes, where the rules of perspective no longer appear to apply and even gravity, as in the dreams of children, can be overcome...

Such are the works of Ariane von Gottberg-Knabe, whose ideas include the concept that painting itself is a form of meditative treatment. Her pictures capture the eye and the artist herself has that very desire and intention, “Painting, like music, is a form of communication, a kind of conversation.
